With immense pleasure, I inaugurated the two day long Losar-cum-Tourism Festival-2015 at Anden Wolung Gumpa complex, West Sikkim and offered prayers. I visited eight different traditional food stalls. While addressing the gathering of dignitaries and local people, I informed that the State Government has protected and promoted the festivals of all communities of Sikkim. Today, on the ceremonious occasion of Losar, the Tibetan New Year, I met and interacted with members of Tibetan community of Sikkim at Mintokgang. I apprised the community that I am working earnestly towards promotion of Buddhist philosophy and an important policy in this regard would soon be framed to protect and promote the interests of Sikkimese Tibetan community. On their invitation, I also agreed to attend the 80th Birthday celebrations of His Holiness Dalai Lama which would be celebrated on 6th July at Chandmari in Gangtok.
Today, I chaired the 3rd Board Meeting of Sikkim Biodiversity Board at Chintan Bhawan. While interacting with the Board Members, I appealed to them to be responsible and work towards controlling the adverse changes and damages to Nature due to the irresponsibility of mankind. Necessary steps should be taken to ensure a sustainable environment for our future needs.
