Inauguration of newly-constructed Tashiling Secretariat

With immense pleasure, I inaugurated the newly-constructed Tashiling Secretariat today, and dedicated it to the people of Sikkim. This is the third Secretariat building which has been constructed in the State. The first, also known as the Chief Court was constructed in 1915 and the second after joining the Indian Union, which had to be demolished after it was damaged by the earthquake of 18th September 2011. I inaugurated the newly constructed Pabyuik Tashi Choeling Gumpa, today at Pabyuik Naitam in East Sikkim. One of the oldest monasteries in Sikkim, it was severely damaged by the earthquake of 18th September, 2011. Since renovation and retrofitting of the damaged ‘Gumpa’ was not possible due to safety reasons, the State Government decided to re-construct this heritage monastery including the sacred Pabyuik Manilhakhang.
