Attended the Jaivik Krishi Paryatan Mela-2018 held at Helipad Ground in Yangang, South Sikkim. I also inaugurated the Nature Interpretation Centre.

In the mela, I visited various stalls including food stalls belonging to all communities of the State, and stalls exhibiting arts, handicrafts, and organic vegetables. It is really heartening to see our farming community being able to showcase their organic produce at events of such stature. Their hard work and resilience deserve special appreciation. The message of going organic has been well taken by our villagers, and they are taking the lead role in promoting Organic Sikkim.

In my advice to the youngsters, I exhorted them to not only aim at being successful individuals but also good human beings. They should also think of contributing towards the society, state and the nation in any possible way.

The State Government has been earnestly working towards creating opportunities for the people of Sikkim in various fields. Now it is for them to avail of these opportunities for their own benefit. I also urged the gathering to take up activities related to:Tourism (organic, pilgrimage, adventure and home stays), Organic and agro-based value addition and marketing, industries & allied activities and trade.

I appealed to the people to lay emphasis on growing organic produce as there is a huge demand for such natural grown products, with mixed- farming being a viable option to maximise production.

I directed the Panchayats and BDO, Yangang to complete the construction of houses under CMRHM along with the pending construction of houses under REDRH by 31st March 2018.
